The Centre for Research on Society, Law, and Religion, Université de Sherbrooke (SoDRUS) and the Chair organized a study day on February 22 in Longueuil, on the theme of “Religious, Sectarian and Ethnocultural Violence: Legitimation Speeches, Partisan Activism, Perspectives at the Heart of Democracies in Western space.” This study day aims to shed new light on the discourses and representations of religious, sectarian and ethnocultural violence by questioning social issues such as freedom of conscience, criticism of the sacred and the justification of violence through sacred texts.
