L’Équipe Radicalités et régulation MSH-Toulouse de l’Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès organized the Social Science Domains: Radicalism Seminar.
The 2000s were marked by a considerable multiplication of the use of the notions of radicalism and radicalization in the media and political discourses and the domain of the social sciences. These notions have emerged as the privileged prisms of analysis to understand the origin of a whole series of violent events. A number of recent publications and the lively debates they have sometimes provoked, highlight the heterogeneity of the ways of mobilizing these notions in the social sciences. The Radicality and Regulation Team will try to understand the epistemological, axiological and polemical aspects of this research, paying particular attention to the methodological issues involved in empirical analysis of such phenomena.
