On November 24, 2020, the Mouvement d’éducation populaire et d’action communautaire du Québec (MÉPACQ) held a panel discussion with its members on conspiracy movements, conspiracy theories and their impact on community groups.
Professor Ghayda Hassan, co-holder of the UNESCO-PREV Chair and Director of the Canadian Practitioners’ Network for the Prevention of Radicalization and Violent Extremism, was a speaker at the panel discussion. Professor Hassan’s presentation was entitled “Les mouvements complotistes au Québec: Acteurs, facteurs, effets et pistes d’action”.
Martin Geoffroy, Associate Member of the Chair and Director of the Centre d’expertise et de formation sur les intégrismes religieux, les idéologies politiques et la radicalisation (CEFIR), was also a speaker. His presentation was entitled “Typologie des genres de discours complotistes et leurs caractéristiques”.
