Marie-Eve Carignan and Sylvain Bédard, respectively co-holder and scientific coordinator of the UNESCO-PREV Chair, will be taking part in the symposium “La désinformation scientifique : un problème public transnational” organized by the Chaire de journalisme scientifique Bell of the Université Laval on February 29. They will be offering a workshop entitled “Les stratégies déployées pour combattre la désinformation” . It will address the issue of misinformation from the point of view of Internet influencers, whose actions are widely denounced by authorities and the media, who frequently accuse them of misleading the public and contributing to social fragmentation and democratic risks.
The symposium aims to stimulate the presentation of research on the emergence of misinformation in the public arena, highlighting the crucial role of journalism in mediating public debate.
