Report by the Fundación Ideas para la Paz (FIP) [Ideas for Peace Foundation] – The Fragility of the Transition: Incomplete Peace and the Persistence of Armed Clashes in Colombia.
Following the signing of the Peace Agreement and after a period during which security indicators have dropped significantly, armed confrontation persists. The latter is led by various illegal participants and has humanitarian impacts that expose the fragility of this agreement. Colombia is at a key point where violence can either decrease or increase, potentially endangering the populations most affected by war.
In municipalities where the FARC had a heightened armed influence, a deterioration began to occur. The power and destabilizing capacity of dissidents has been consolidated in different territories, while small groups have gained strength in some areas. Additionally, according to the military, between December 2018 and March 2019, the number of dissenting members increased from 1,749 to 2,000.
