Equitas organized a community dialogue in Vancouver –Building Connected Communities – A Woman’s Journey for Human Rights.

The guest of honor was Rita Izsák-Ndiaye, a Hungarian human rights specialist currently based in Senegal, who has worked with civil society and multilateral organizations in various countries, including Somalia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. and with the Government of Hungary in the areas of discrimination, racism, minority rights, social inclusion and other related issues. She is the former a Special Rapporteur to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The community dialogue was facilitated by a diverse panel including Silvio Albuquerque, a member of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Brenda Morrison, Director of SFU’s Center for Restorative Justice, and two inspiring young people from Shaking the Movers.
