The Groupe Sociétés, Religions, Laïcités (GSRL-CNRS) organised a seminar around the book “Loyautés radicales, l’islam et les ‘mauvais garçons’ de la nation.”
Fabien Truong is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Paris VIII University. The presentation was usefully completed through a reworking by Hicham Benaïssa (GSRL), creating an opportunity for general discussion.
Fabien Truong presented the underpinnings of the socio-anthropological survey he conducted in the Paris suburbs, mainly in Grigny. He also presented Adama, Radouane, Hassan, Tarik, Marley and … Amédy Coulibaly, a leading figure in the attacks of January 2015. Masculinity and violence, as well as religion, are at the heart of the analysis.
