Marie-Ève Carignan, Director of the Media Division for the UNESCO-PREV Chair, will participate in this webinar on misinformation in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. This event, will take place online on the Zoom platform on Monday, November 2, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Vivek Venkatesh, co-holder of the UNESCO-PREV Chair and director of the Someone Project, will participate in a live webinar on radicalism, extremism and Islamophobia organized by the Institute of Media Studies of KU Leuven. This interdisciplinary panel will take place on November 4, 2020 from 9:00 p.m to 10:15 p.m (Québec Time). .

Pablo Madriaza, the scientific coordinator of the UNESCO-PREV Chair, has been invited to participate in the online conference “Is there radicalization in Chile? The Chilean Social Explosion and Comparative Evidence”. Organized by the Center for the Study of Conflict and Social Cohesion of Chile (COES), the event will take place on Wednesday, September 30th, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. (Quebec time).

The International Centre for Transdisciplinary Research and Studies (CIRET) in France, the National School of Anthropology and History (ENAH) in Mexico, the UNESCO Transdisciplinary Chair on Human Development and Culture of Peace at the University of Florence (UTC) in Italy and the Centre for Transdisciplinary Education (CETRANS) in Brazil are co-organizing the Third World Congress on Transdisciplinarity. The event, which will be held from October 30, 2020 to September 3, 2021, will take place in virtual venues.

The Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS), the Centre for the Prevention of Radicalization Leading to Violence (CPRMV) and the Consultative Centre for Jewish-Israeli Relations (CIJA) are co-organizing a webinar called “From Antisemitism to Deep-State Theory: Understanding Conspiracy Theories to Better Confront Them”. The virtual event will take place on September 17, 2020 from 10:30 to 11:30.

Through a round table discussion to be held on September 2, 2020, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., Marie-Ève Carignan, Director of the Media Division for the UNESCO-PREV Chair, will address issues relating to conspiracy theories in the context of the pandemic.

To contribute to the discussion on systemic racism, the Association for Canadian Studies, Metropolis Canada and the Canadian Commission for UNESCO are organizing a free online conference titled “Understanding Systemic Racism in Canada: Concept and Data”. Bringing together experts to assess anti-racism policies and practices, present new data on Canadians’ perceptions of systemic racism, and share the perspectives of Indigenous and racialized communities in Canada, the web event will take place on June 23rd, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
